Healthy Journey Starts with Baby Steps

Dear Readers,

You may notice many of the recipes range in healthiness from purist (@TheFoodBabe Raw Coconut Macaroons) to sweet (Peanut Butter Oreo Magic Bars). 5:00 Coffee Club shares a variety of recipes for all stages of a healthy journey!

My own personal journey to improve well-being through organic living began with baby steps. One step at a time! Baby steps for many reasons, but mostly due to budget, fear, habit.

  • Budget: You may feel, “Organic is expensive.” Try buying just one item a week. The bulk items are less expensive than the prepackaged ones. Organic sugar, oats, nuts, flour, and even peanut butter to name a few. And the best part is you are able to get as much or little as you want!
  • Fear: You may feel, “Organic tastes bad.” Try tasting store samples. Stores want you to try their products. Ask the deli for a slice of nitrate and nitrite free lunch meat. They will gladly give you a sample. And the best part is you are able to get as much or little as you want!
  • Habit: You may feel, “Organic overhaul is overwhelming.” Try buying just one item a week. For instance, replace refined white flour with organic flour of your choice. If you are concerned with how your baking will turn out using a different flour, organic spelt flour has been my first choice for all my baking needs. And if you are gluten sensitive, spelt flour has less gluten than wheat flour. It’s more expensive, but buying it in bulk makes this affordable. And again, the best part is you are able to get as much or little as you want! Hopefully, you’ve replaced your refined white sugar with organic cane sugar as was suggested previously on this post. Congratulations on your first step!

Remember, baby steps. One step at a time!

Thank you for joining me on this 5:00 Coffee Club journey!
